When winter comes The Family becomes invisible. They stay at friend's apartments, in church shelters, and in secret hidey-holes on the street. Warm clothing is available because private donors distribute second hand clothing.
         Living outside in subzero temperatures is dangerous. Some of the homeless used to sleep on grates that vented excess heat from the capitol building. The grates are now designed like a rooftop so that folks can't lie down on them. Someone at the capitol had figured out what to do about the problem of homelessness.
         It's commonly believed that lots of homeless people like being homeless. Yeah, right.
