We call
them panhandlers, they call themselves spangers, (from "Do you have any spare
change?") but they are beggars, and they are right here in America. Maybe we should
consider the possibility that there is something very wrong with a society that
has so much wealth, yet reduces a large part of it's population to begging in
the streets. Contrary to popular myth poor people do not enjoy being poor, and
they do not enjoy panhandling. They panhandle because they are poor.
