You may be wondering why the State Street people don't get a job and move off the street? Pick from one or more of these possible reasons: because they are mentally ill, because they are ex cons, because they are disabled, because they can't pass a drug test, because they are fugitives with warrants out for their arrest, because they can't read, because they know in their hearts that no matter how hard they try they will never have the good life.
         I think that most of the people on State Street would like to change their life style, but they don't have the foggiest notion of how to go about it. They didn't volunteer to be homeless and poor, it just happened to them.
