I don't interview these people and I have only the barest outlines of their story. I am invading their privacy enough with the pictures I take. The information that I do have is from rumor and casual conversation.         I'm greeted wherever I go with "hey Picture Guy", the street name The Family gave me. I like it. It's important to me that I feel accepted. I don't think that I could go on with this project without a sense of acceptance. Without that acceptance I would feel like an intruder, a voyeur, there to exploit them.
