Imagine that you live in a small village, maybe 500 people in it. You would know, at least to recognize and say hello to, everybody in town. When people were in trouble you would help them. When somebody misbehaved you wouldn't put him or her in jail; you would try to correct that behavior. When folks were down and out, the community would find a way to support them. When people drank too much you would see to it that they got home all right. That's what it is like on State Street. It's a village.
