"Take our
picture, take our picture." The man is pretty much a stranger to the child.
Frightening? I don't think so. What the hell has happened to us that we
would automatically suspect a man who is lovingly playing with a child?
What are we teaching our children?
I have frequently experienced
having children in public places be so frightened of me that they run
and cling to their parents leg. Are we doing our children a favor to have
them fear strangers? In a society where children are seldom in their parents
care, what with daycare and nannies, perhaps fearing strangers is a good
survival strategy. That doesn't make it a good way to live. |
